Before you book
Have your medication bottle or pharmacy label handy: the drug name, strength, how you take it, and the pharmacy you want to use.
Whether you're in the city, living on campus at Augustana, or in a Camrose County village such as Bawlf or Hay Lakes, a routine renewal can happen by phone or video. A Canadian licensed doctor checks that your medication is still right for you and sends it to the pharmacy you choose. There's no charge with an active Alberta Health Card.
Book Prescription RefillFree with an active Alberta Health Card

Camrose-area patients can renew an existing, stable, non-controlled medication through a secure phone or video visit with a Canadian licensed doctor. When a refill is appropriate, it's e-prescribed to your pharmacy. Visits are free with an active Alberta Health Card and $50 CAD without one, for up to 3 medications.
Clinical content is reviewed for accuracy and scope. TelePlus Care appointments go ahead only when a doctor agrees it is the right call, after a real assessment, and the doctor will explain the next step if virtual care is not the right fit.
Camrose is a small city at the centre of a wide rural area, and the City describes St. Mary's Hospital as serving a diverse and growing rural community. For many households, renewing a medication means fitting an appointment around work, classes or family. TelePlus Care offers another route for medicines you already take. A Canadian licensed doctor connects with you by phone or video, reviews your history and current dose, and, when a refill is safe, sends it electronically to your pharmacy. You don't need to see a family doctor first or sit in a waiting room.
The best candidates are prescriptions that have been steady for a while, with no recent dose changes and no new warning signs. Before deciding, the doctor may ask about recent lab results, blood pressure readings at home, or how often you've needed a rescue inhaler. Being on this list doesn't mean a particular request will be approved; it simply shows the kinds of medicines that are often suitable.
Need a refill in Camrose? Book a TelePlus Care online doctor review when you want a prescriber to check the medication, dose and recent health changes. If renewal is clinically appropriate, it can be sent to your preferred pharmacy. Alberta pharmacists can renew many existing prescriptions as originally written for a simple bridge; a doctor review is the better fit when the pharmacy cannot extend it, the medication has not been reviewed for a long time, symptoms or side effects have changed, or the dose needs adjusting.
Booking takes a few minutes online. You'll fill in an intake form with the medication you need renewed, then choose a time. Clinic hours are 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM Mountain Time, seven days a week, and same-day spots may be available. At the appointment, a doctor connects by phone or video; you'll need to be somewhere in Alberta for the call.
Tell us which pharmacy you use, whether that's in the city or wherever you normally fill prescriptions. The doctor's e-prescription goes straight there, so nothing has to be dropped off. Each pharmacy sets its own processing time, so phone before heading in if you need the medicine today. Some pharmacies deliver; ask yours if that would help. If a pharmacist has a question about the prescription, they can reach TelePlus Care.
Call 911 for a medical emergency such as severe chest pain, difficulty breathing, signs of stroke or a serious allergic reaction. St. Mary's Hospital at 4607 53 Street treats health emergencies 24 hours a day, every day. Not sure how urgent something is? Health Link 811 connects you with a registered nurse at any hour. Online visits also aren't used for controlled substances such as opioids, benzodiazepines or ADHD stimulants, for brand-new prescriptions for complex or undiagnosed problems, or when a medication needs urgent tests, vital signs or a physical exam before it can be continued.
You don't need a family doctor to book a refill review, but ongoing care is worth pursuing. The Camrose Primary Care Network has family doctors in Camrose and Bashaw working alongside nurses, dietitians, nurse practitioners and other team members. Individual doctors decide whether they're accepting new patients, so it helps to check Alberta Find a Provider, which lists providers taking patients and lets you ask for help finding a clinic. Public health services such as immunization are offered at the Camrose Community Health Centre Briarcrest.
The University of Alberta's Augustana Campus brings more than 900 students to Camrose, and about half of them live on campus. If your prescription was written by a doctor in your hometown, you don't have to travel back just to continue a stable medication. Book from residence, take the call while you're in Alberta, and have the renewal sent to a pharmacy near campus. Students with an active Alberta Health Card pay nothing, while students without an active card pay $50 CAD for up to 3 medications.
