Before you book
Have your medication bottle or pharmacy label handy: the drug name, strength, how you take it, and the pharmacy you want to use.
Okotoks has its own urgent care centre, but a routine renewal doesn't need a waiting room. Book a phone or video visit and a Canadian licensed doctor will review the medication you already take and, if it's safe, send the prescription to a nearby pharmacy or wherever you prefer.
Book Prescription RefillFree with an active Alberta Health Card

For people in Okotoks and the surrounding Foothills County area who take a stable, non-controlled medication. A Canadian licensed doctor reviews it virtually and, when appropriate, sends an e-prescription to your pharmacy. There's no fee with an active Alberta Health Card; without active coverage it's $50 CAD for up to 3 medications.
Clinical content is reviewed for accuracy and scope. TelePlus Care appointments go ahead only when a doctor agrees it is the right call, after a real assessment, and the doctor will explain the next step if virtual care is not the right fit.
Okotoks sits on the Sheep River south of Calgary, reached by Highway 2A and Highway 7, and it's surrounded by Foothills County. Whether you live in town or on an acreage outside it, renewing a medication you've taken for years shouldn't use up half a day. A virtual refill visit connects you with a Canadian licensed doctor by phone or video to review a prescription you already have. If continuing it is safe, the renewal is sent electronically to your pharmacy. If it isn't, the doctor explains why and what to do next.
Need an Okotoks prescription refill? Book a TelePlus Care online doctor review when you want a prescriber to reassess the medication, dose and how it is working for you. If renewal is clinically appropriate, the doctor can send it to your preferred pharmacy. Alberta pharmacists can renew a prescription as written for a simple bridge, while a doctor review is the right next step when the medication is not working, side effects have appeared, the dose may change, monitoring is overdue or your original prescriber is unavailable.
Doctors are most comfortable renewing virtually when a condition is already diagnosed and steady. You'll likely be asked how long you've taken the medication, when the dose last changed, whether you've noticed side effects, and when you last had related tests. If a check is overdue, the doctor may want results before, or alongside, a renewal. Mention any medications other prescribers have started too, including anything given at urgent care, because interactions matter when a long-term prescription is renewed.
The Okotoks Health and Wellness Centre at 11 Cimarron Common houses a walk-in urgent care centre, open 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day including statutory holidays, for non-life-threatening problems like broken bones, sprains, cuts, dehydration and infections. Patients are seen in order of urgency, and it isn't a hospital emergency department. In an emergency, call 911. High River General Hospital has a 24/7 emergency department, and South Health Campus in southeast Calgary has one too. Health Link 811 is available around the clock if you want nurse advice about where to go.
Appointments run seven days a week from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM Mountain Time, and a same-day opening may turn up during those hours. The earliest selectable time is at least two hours after booking. Book online with the medication name, strength and dosing, and tell us which pharmacy to use. You'll get a confirmation by email, and a team member may phone to double-check details. The appointment itself is a conversation: the doctor asks how the medication is working, about side effects, allergies, other treatments and recent test results, then lets you know the outcome before the call ends.
Your renewal reaches the pharmacy electronically, so there's no paper to drop off. Pick a pharmacy in town if you want it close to home, or one in Calgary or High River if that's where your week takes you. If you live out of town and extra trips are a hassle, ask pharmacies whether they deliver to your area. Filling time depends on the pharmacy, so call ahead before you drive in.
Okotoks is among the communities served by the Calgary Rural Primary Care Network, along with High River, Diamond Valley, Nanton and Vulcan in the rural area around Calgary. The PCN uses shared space in town for its mental health and social work team, and its website links to Alberta Find a Provider for family doctors and nurse practitioners accepting new patients. You don't need a family doctor to book an online refill, and a virtual visit can keep a stable medication on track while you look for ongoing care.
Some renewals come with a lab requisition, whether for kidney function, cholesterol, thyroid levels or an A1C. The Town lists laboratory services among the services at the Okotoks Health and Wellness Centre on Cimarron Common, so tests can often be done without leaving town. Check current lab hours and whether you need an appointment before going. Having recent results on hand makes your next renewal review simpler.
