TelePlus Care provides virtual talk therapy and doctor-led mental health care to adults in Kitchener and Waterloo Region, Ontario. Sessions run by secure video for anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, and burnout. Canadian-licensed doctors may prescribe antidepressants when appropriate; controlled substances are not prescribed online. Not for emergencies — call or text 988, or 911.
Clinical content is reviewed for accuracy and scope. TelePlus Care appointments go ahead only when a doctor agrees it is the right call, after a real assessment, and the doctor will explain the next step if virtual care is not the right fit.
Online mental health support means meeting a qualified provider by secure, private video — no waiting rooms, no drive across the 401, no hunting for downtown parking. For people living and working across Waterloo Region, from the innovation district in Downtown Kitchener to quieter streets in Forest Hill, Stanley Park, and Doon, that flexibility matters. You can log in from home on a lunch break, between classes at Conestoga College, or after the kids are asleep. TelePlus Care connects Kitchener adults with counsellors and therapists for talk therapy, and with Canadian-licensed doctors for medication questions where appropriate. Sessions are one-on-one, confidential, and held on an encrypted platform. This is planned, ongoing care — a space to be heard, make sense of what you're feeling, and build practical tools — not an emergency service. If you're in crisis right now, please skip to the crisis resources below. Otherwise, most new clients can be seen the same week or the next, without joining a months-long public waitlist.
Emotional pain doesn't always have a dramatic cause — sometimes it's the slow accumulation of stress, change, and things left unsaid. Whatever brought you here, it's a valid reason to reach out. Our providers support Kitchener adults through a wide range of everyday and life-altering struggles, whether you're navigating a single hard season or a longer road with your mental health. You don't need a diagnosis or the 'right' words to begin — just a willingness to talk.
Talk therapy isn't one-size-fits-all. After an initial conversation, your provider recommends an approach — or a blend of approaches — suited to what you're facing and how you like to work. These are established, research-supported methods used widely across Ontario mental health care. Progress is rarely a straight line, and no ethical provider can promise a specific outcome, but many people find real, lasting relief with consistent effort and support.
Talk therapy helps many people on its own. For others, medication is a useful part of the plan — and that's a conversation to have with a physician. Where it is clinically appropriate, TelePlus Care's Canadian-licensed doctors can assess whether an antidepressant may help and prescribe medications such as SSRIs (for example, sertraline or escitalopram) or SNRIs, then monitor how you respond. Any prescription follows a proper medical assessment; medication is never guaranteed or automatic. There are firm limits, by law and for your safety. Controlled substances are not prescribed through online visits. That includes benzodiazepines (such as lorazepam or clonazepam for anxiety) and stimulants used for ADHD. If your care needs those medications, or a hands-on physical assessment, we will tell you honestly and help you understand where to turn locally. Talk therapy is delivered by qualified counsellors and therapists; prescribing is handled only by licensed doctors — and you're always free to keep your family doctor in the loop.
Getting timely mental health care in Ontario can be hard. Reporting on provincial wait times suggests many people wait around four months to see a psychiatrist — sometimes longer than a year — and publicly funded psychotherapy is limited. In Waterloo Region, the front door to public crisis and addictions services is coordinated through Here 24/7, while hospital care runs through the newly merged Waterloo Regional Health Network. Those services are essential, and we are not a replacement for them. What virtual care can offer is a faster, lower-barrier way to start talking to someone while you wait — or a standalone path if a private, flexible option simply suits you better. Fees are typically paid out of pocket or through workplace, student, or extended health benefit plans, since most private counselling isn't covered by OHIP. We'll always be upfront about what we can and can't do, so you can make an informed choice about your care.
TelePlus Care is not an emergency or crisis service, and our providers cannot respond to urgent safety concerns in real time. If you are thinking about suicide, or you're worried about someone who is, please reach out to one of these free services right now. You deserve immediate support, and help is available 24/7.
Starting is meant to feel easy — the hardest part is often just deciding to reach out. You can book an intake appointment online in a few minutes, with no referral required. During that first session, your provider listens to what's going on, answers your questions, and works with you on a plan that fits your goals, schedule, and budget. From there, you and your provider decide together how often to meet. Most new Kitchener clients are seen the same week or the next. Everything happens by secure video, so whether you're near Victoria Park, out in Doon, or studying near the University of Waterloo, you can get support without leaving home. There's no pressure and no long-term commitment — just a first conversation, whenever you're ready.
