Edmonton patients who do not yet have a blood-work requisition can book a TelePlus Care medical assessment online. A Canadian-licensed doctor reviews why testing is needed and can order appropriate tests. Afterward, the patient completes collection at an Alberta Precision Laboratories location.
Clinical content is reviewed for accuracy and scope. TelePlus Care appointments go ahead only when a doctor agrees it is the right call, after a real assessment, and the doctor will explain the next step if virtual care is not the right fit.
A blood test starts with the right clinical question. If you are experiencing symptoms, need recommended monitoring, or have been asked to update testing before treatment, TelePlus Care gives Edmonton patients a direct way to speak with a doctor. During the appointment, the doctor reviews what is happening and decides which tests can provide useful answers. You do not need to arrive with a list of test names—the assessment is designed to identify what is appropriate for you.

If you do not have a requisition, start by booking TelePlus Care's General Medical Care assessment—not the separate collection product. Complete the secure intake and meet a Canadian-licensed doctor by phone or video while you are physically in Alberta. When blood work is medically appropriate, the doctor can prepare the requisition and explain any fasting, timing, or follow-up requirements. You can then arrange collection with the laboratory named by your provider.

Alberta Precision Laboratories operates patient service centres across Edmonton. Community locations include Northgate Centre, Tawa Centre, College Plaza, Callingwood Market Square, Gateway, Riverbend Square, and Currents Drive. Services and access rules can differ, and some hospital laboratories serve only referred clinic or hospital patients. Check APL's current location information before travelling rather than relying on an old DynaLIFE listing.

The correct test depends on your symptoms, risks, diagnoses, medication, and previous results. Asking for a comprehensive panel does not always produce better care: unnecessary testing can create confusing findings and more procedures without answering the original concern. A TelePlus Care doctor selects a focused group of tests and explains what the results are intended to clarify.
Preparation can affect the accuracy of a result. Do not fast, stop a prescription, or change a supplement simply because you are going for blood work. Follow the instructions from the ordering doctor and the laboratory. If anything is unclear, confirm it before the collection day rather than guessing.
A portal result is only one part of the medical picture. A value outside the laboratory reference range does not automatically establish a diagnosis, and a value inside the range does not always explain ongoing symptoms. Results need to be interpreted with your history and the reason the test was ordered. TelePlus Care can help guide appropriate follow-up, which may include monitoring, treatment, repeat testing, referral, or in-person assessment.
