If life in the Okanagan has felt heavier lately, TelePlus Care offers warm, judgment-free online mental health support for adults across Kelowna — from Rutland and Glenmore to Lower Mission, Pandosy, and downtown, and for students at UBC Okanagan and Okanagan College. Meet a caring counsellor by secure video or phone, without the drive to KLO Road or a months-long wait for a referral. We support you through relationship struggles, breakups and divorce, grief, stress after an accident, trauma and PTSD, anxiety and panic attacks, depression, work burnout, and sleep problems. When it's clinically appropriate, our Canadian-licensed doctors can also help with medication. Most new clients are seen the same or the following week.

TelePlus Care provides online mental health support for adults in Kelowna and the Central Okanagan, including virtual talk therapy for anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, burnout, and relationship issues, plus doctor-led medication management with SSRIs or SNRIs where appropriate. Controlled substances are never prescribed online. It is not for emergencies; call or text 988, or 911 in danger.
Clinical content is reviewed for accuracy and scope. TelePlus Care appointments go ahead only when a doctor agrees it is the right call, after a real assessment, and the doctor will explain the next step if virtual care is not the right fit.
Online mental health support means you meet a qualified counsellor or doctor from wherever you feel safe — your apartment near UBC Okanagan, a quiet room in Lower Mission, or on a break between shifts downtown. Sessions happen over secure, private video or by phone, so there's no commuting across the bridge from West Kelowna or sitting in a waiting room. For many Okanagan adults, virtual care simply fits real life: it works around childcare in Glenmore, snowy winter drives up to Black Mountain, and the reality that in-person counsellors and Interior Health services often carry long waitlists. You choose the time; we handle the rest. Everything is confidential and held to Canadian privacy standards. Your first appointment is an unhurried conversation about what's been happening and what you'd like to feel differently — no scripts, no judgment, just a real person listening and helping you plan gentle next steps at your own pace.
There's no problem too big or too 'small' to bring to a session. Adults across the Central Okanagan reach out at all kinds of turning points — a marriage that's fraying, a breakup that blindsided them, or the heavy fog of grief after losing someone they love. Some are shaken after a collision on Highway 97 or a fall on the slopes, and find the fear won't settle. Others are quietly carrying anxiety, sudden panic attacks, a low mood that won't lift, or a burnout that built up over years of long hours. Sleep, so often the first thing stress steals, may have become its own struggle. Whatever brought you here, you deserve support that takes it seriously and meets you with compassion rather than judgment. Here are some of the concerns we work with most often:
Good therapy isn't one-size-fits-all, and it shouldn't feel like a lecture. After really understanding your situation and goals, your provider draws on approaches with strong research behind them — and explains, in plain language, why a particular method suits what you're facing. You're always a partner in that choice, never a passenger. Progress can take time and looks different for everyone; we won't promise a quick fix or guaranteed outcomes, but we will work patiently alongside you using methods that have helped many people feel more like themselves. Often, therapy is combined — for example, calming skills for panic in the short term while gently processing an older trauma over time. Some of the evidence-based approaches your provider may draw on include:
Talk therapy helps many people feel better on its own. For some, though, medication can make it easier to do that work — and our Canadian-licensed doctors can help you weigh whether it's right for you. When it's clinically appropriate, a physician may prescribe antidepressants such as SSRIs or SNRIs, arrange follow-up to see how you respond, and coordinate with your family doctor or an Interior Health provider. We practise conservative, guideline-based prescribing: medication is always a shared decision, never rushed, and always paired with proper monitoring. There are firm limits, for your safety. We do not prescribe controlled substances online — that means no benzodiazepines (such as Ativan or clonazepam) and no ADHD stimulants (such as Adderall or Vyvanse). These require in-person assessment and ongoing monitoring that virtual care can't safely provide. If your needs fall outside what we can responsibly offer online, we'll tell you honestly and help point you toward the right local resource.
Kelowna's public mental health care runs through Interior Health, the regional health authority for BC's Southern Interior, alongside Kelowna General Hospital, family doctors, and community programs like Foundry Kelowna for younger people. These services matter — but demand is high, and referrals to a psychiatrist through the public system in British Columbia commonly involve waits of several months, and sometimes longer than a year. That gap is hard when you're hurting now. Private virtual counselling doesn't replace those services; it complements them. It can offer support while you wait, help with concerns that don't need a psychiatrist, and connect you with a doctor for medication questions. If your situation calls for a higher level of care — an Interior Health mental health team, a specialist, or hospital-based support — we'll say so and help you take that step. Think of us as one accessible door among several, not a wall between you and the local system.
Online counselling is not an emergency service, and it isn't the right tool when you're in immediate danger or having thoughts of ending your life. If that's where you are right now, please know this: you deserve immediate, caring human support, and it is available day or night, for free, no matter where you are in the Okanagan. You don't have to explain it perfectly or wait until things get 'bad enough.' Reaching out early is exactly what these lines are for. Trained responders will listen without judgment and help you through the moment. If you're supporting someone else who is struggling, these numbers are for you too. Please save them in your phone now, before you need them — and use whichever feels right when the time comes.
Starting is meant to feel easy, even on a hard day. You don't need a referral, a diagnosis, or the right words — just a willingness to talk to someone. Booking takes only a few minutes online, and you can attend from anywhere in Kelowna, West Kelowna, Lake Country, or the wider Okanagan, on whatever device you already use. Counselling with a registered provider isn't covered by BC's Medical Services Plan, but many extended health benefit plans reimburse part of the cost, so it's worth checking your coverage before your first visit. If a medication question comes up, we can bring a Canadian-licensed doctor into your care. Whatever you're carrying, you don't have to sort it out alone — and taking this first small step is something to be proud of. Here's how it works:
