Red Flags — When We Refer You In Person
Some reflux-like symptoms hide more serious problems. We will not treat virtually if any of the following apply:
- Unintentional weight loss
- Trouble or pain swallowing (dysphagia, odynophagia)
- Persistent vomiting, vomiting blood, or cofdetail-ground vomit
- Black or tarry stools, or any rectal bleeding
- Iron-deficiency anemia of unclear cause
- New onset of reflux symptoms after age 60
- Family history of stomach or esophageal cancer in a first-degree relative
- These cases need bloodwork, an in-person exam, and likely a gastroscopy through AHS. We will arrange the referral.

- Step 2 — Meet your licensed doctor by secure video. They review your symptoms, screen for red flags, and discuss medication and lifestyle options
- Step 3 — Receive your prescription. It is sent directly to your chosen Alberta pharmacy (Shoppers, Rexall, London Drugs, Save-On-Foods, Co-op, Costco, or any independent). Pharmacy processing time varies by location and prescription
